Resto Experience: Paris’ Latest Food & Drink Salon

The city’s foodies and drinkies will be happy to hear there is a new culinary salon cropping up this year: Resto Experience.

Resto Experience runs from 7 to 9 April at the Park Floral and showcases 50 restaurants and 10 bars. Entry tickets (€26 – €31 Euros) allow visitors to participate in free workshops on topics like fresh pasta or fruit cutting from the Paul Bocuse Foundation. Entry also includes 10 “resto-billets”, which is the onsite currency used to purchase mini-plate samples or drinks from the participating bars and restaurants. 10 “resto-billets” is enough for a couple of small plates plus one alcoholic drink and if you want to sample more, additional packs of 10 billets can be purchased for €13 onsite.

The salon is arranged around 5 different themes, which reflect current trends in France’s gastronomic scene: Bistronomie, Regional Cuisine, World Cuisine, Finger Food and Specialty Trends such as gluten-free, sugar-free, etc. For example, you can sample finger food from MELT smokehouse or get your gluten-free Mexican fix from Chilango.

In addition to the culinary themes, they are also including a bar section. With participating venues including options from well-established craft cocktail spots like Maria Loca to fresh fruit drink delivery services like Ely Cocktail it promises to be an eclectic mix of addresses with a few surprises (hopefully all good!) rather than just the rotation of regulars. Those interested in learning more about the growing trend of botanical cider can stop in at the self-proclaimed nonconformist booth of Fils de Pømme. If you’re lingering around apero hour, hit up the La Bottega Pastavino because those Italians always ace the aperitivo. A few of the other exhibitors under the bar banner are primarily restaurants – like Café Pelican or Le Pop Up du Label – so it should be interesting to see what they add to the cocktail conversation as well.
