For an occasional change of pace, we invite other Paris personalities to tell us about their favorite bars for our Friday Five feature. This week we talk to savvy professionals from the Paris vacation apartment rental scene. These people do more than just provide warm beds for weary travelers. They are dedicated Paris lovers with an inside scoop on what’s happening in the capital. This week, they’re giving up the goods just for us with some of their favourite under the radar bars.
Jeremy Wolf is the community manager at misterbnb, the largest gay hotelier in the world. Jeremy’s Friday Five bar pick is Les Souffleurs, which he describes as “a small bar in the heart of the Marais that provides a convivial atmosphere and cheap drinks (by Paris standards)!”
Jodie Hutchins of Paris Rentals by Ruben and founder of Jodie in Paris a Parisian concierge and shopping guide service, recommends checking out Le Cinquante which she describes as a “cool spot” where “all the bike delivery guy/girls go there after they are done with dinner food deliveries for cheep beer.”
Gail Boisclair is the founder of Perfectly Paris which specializes in renting beautiful apartments in the Montmartre area. Gail suggests checking out one of her favorite neighborhood craft beer bars, L’Alibi. “I have always called l’Alibi my little dirty, grungy neighborhood bar” Gail explains. “It’s changed a lot over the years so it’s less dirty and less grungy. The bar has a great atmosphere with fun and friendly people. Pascal always has his computer going with super music.”
Stephanie Thiroux from Feels Like Home in Paris promises to give visitors a home rather than a hotel and suggests a visit to Au Reve (89 rue Caulaincourt), a small bar where locals and tourists meet daily.
The HiP (Haven in Paris) team is always on top of the latest Paris happenings. Not only do they rent some of the city’s most fab vacation homes, they also manage a fantastic blog full of Paris tidbits. Bespoke is their favorite address for indulging in a signature drink or custom cocktail. Go for the bartenders’ talented craftsmanship, keep coming back for friendly hospitality.
