vintage spirits

Vintage spirits

Vintage spirits and liqueurs can taste distinctly different from their current counterparts due to changes in the bottle, production methods and recipes over the decades. Give the cocktail lover in your life the opportunity travel back in time with a vintage spirit.

Make sure to go with a reputable provider and respect storage requirements (some should stay in lower temperatures, etc.)

Where to find them? I get my vintage spirits from Les Petits Celliers and highly recommend them for an excellent selection, high quality, and a range of prices. They are located in France, but ship worldwide.

Cost: 125 to 500+ Euros

Personalised stir sticks

How about taking their cocktail service up a notch with personalised stir sticks? I haven’t tried this – yet! – so don’t have a favorite service. But, it’s easy enough to find companies that personalize products, so find something in your budget and get all bespoke!

Cost: 50+ Euros/100 sticks (price varies depending on quality, location, etc.)

Square Modern

If those won’t do it and you’re still stumped, think outside the box and focus on a cocktail lifestyle rather than the bar itself. If your home bartender digs the cool aesthetic of Mad Men, then pick them up some mid-century stylish Square Modern accent pillows. They’re made in Paris from primarily reclaimed designer fabric remnants with mid-century modern designs.

Where to find them?: You’ll find them in a few boutiques but you can buy directly from the website and they ship worldwide. Shipping prices are nice, but if you want to further cut down on the cost, you can also purchase only the cover (to be filled with a pillow, of course).

Cost: 65 Euros

juniper_largeMolecular necklace

Not long ago, one of my favorite ladies on London cocktail scene, Emma “Gin Monkey” Stokes collaborated with a couple of creatives who make science inspired jewelry and the result is some pretty awesome stuff: a gin necklace which is a depiction of the juniper molecule (the botanical found in all gin.) And 5$ on every necklace purchased goes towards educational resources for scientist, students and teachers.

Pretty AND smart!

Where to find it: Buy it online at somersault18:24 – they ship worldwide for free!

Cost: 118.35 Euros
